Cutting large sheets of papers down to size is a simple task with paper trimmers and cutters, which are perfect additions to any office environment that handles documents on a consistent basis. Meet all of your deadlines using a variety of paper punches, cutters and folding machines to complete each document-based task, or stock up on an assortment of basic supplies for day-to-day assignments.

Paper Trimmer or Paper Cutter

The main difference between a paper trimmer and a paper cutter is the maximum sheet capacity. Use a paper trimmer for cutting smaller stacks of papers. Use a paper cutter for handling large stacks up to 1,000 sheets or for slicing through thicker materials than paper, like card stock, foam boards and plastic strips. It's also critically important to pay attention to the cut length, which can range from a standard 12" up to 60" for larger projects.

Cutting Blade

Most paper trimmers use a guillotine-style blade that cuts through items when a swift, downward motion is applied to the handle. Safety is prioritized with a paper cutter that uses a tension spring to keep the handle arm in any position, preventing it from falling, plus a safety guard that covers the sharp blade when it's not in use. Choose a paper trimmer with a rotary knob that slides back and forth for smooth cutting and keeps fingers away from the enclosed blade.

Cutting Surface

Make sure each cut is precise and properly aligned with a paper cutter that has built-in grids and both imperial and metric measurements. Most paper trimmers come with a heavy-duty wooden or metal base that is built to withstand sharp cuts and rough handling.
